Swanson

My name is Donald L. Swanson (please call me “Don”).   I am an attorney in Omaha, Nebraska, am a shareholder in the law firm of Koley Jessen P.C., L.L.O., and serve as a Subchapter V Trustee in the District of Nebraska. I’ve been practicing business bankruptcy law for more than four decades and represent all types of bankruptcy constituencies, including debtors, creditors, committees, trustees, and § 363 purchasers.

I have extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution processes (including mediation and facilitation) in both bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy courts. Moreover, I have a decades-long background in resolving multi-party disputes while representing committees and trustees.

I serve as Chair of the Nebraska Bankruptcy Court Mediation Committee; am a Certified Specialist in Business Bankruptcy Law by the American Board of Certification; am active in the American Bankruptcy Institute (currently serving on its Subchapter V Task Force); hold a Peer Review Rating of “AV® Preeminent” by Martindale; serve as Commissioner representing Nebraska on the Uniform Law Commission (ULC), where I’m also a member of ULC’s Drafting Committee on assignments for benefit of creditors and a ULC Legislative Council Fellow; and serve on the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Subchapter V Task Force.

I hope you enjoy this blog.  My goal is to publish a new article each Tuesday and Thursday on subjects of (i) bankruptcy, and (ii) alternative dispute resolution (including mediation and arbitration).
